Volunteer Information

Are you interested in becoming a Volunteer Firefighter?

Volunteers are in integral part of the fire service all over the world. Even today, many departments are manned solely with volunteers; everyday citizens who made the decision to make a difference in their communities by performing life and property saving duties.

Marion County Fire District and Turner Fire District are combination departments, meaning that they are comprised of both paid and volunteer staff that responds to fire and medical emergencies.

All volunteers receive a high level of training in not only fire fighting, but also in fire prevention, CPR and First Aid, driver awareness, hazardous materials procedures, radio communications and basic report writing.

Many citizens choose to volunteer as a way to give back to their communities, or because they like the excitement and activity that is an everyday part of the fire service. Another good reason to volunteer is to gain skills and experience needed to become paid career firefighters down the road. If you are looking for a career in the fire service, volunteering is a great start, and we can help to point you in the right direction.
